The Magic Power of a Calm and Relaxed Heart

I rented a condo with my schoolmates while I was in university. I was not familiar with my mates, because they had different class schedules from me, we barely saw one another. One day when I was cutting fruit in the kitchen, I heard one of my mates coming downstairs to her class. While I was figuring how to greet her, she already said hello to me. I wanted to show my friendliness and enthusiasm, but I was so nervous that I totally forgot I had a knife in my hand. When I waved my hand to greet her, the knife slipped and cut my finger (fortunately, the knife did not fly out of my hand). I was not aware of the pain at first. Until she got out of the house, did I finally notice that my index finger was bleeding.
Whenever I recalled the incident I found it very funny. Because I got anxious and nervous easily and because it was difficult for me to stay relaxed, every time when I had to do a presentation, I had a hard time. No matter how well prepared I was, I got nervous and became tongue-tied when I stepped onto the stage. Even worse, I could not sleep well for a few days prior to the presentation. I would repeatedly read my paper for fear that I would make a mistake in the presentation. Although this was not a very serious problem, it did bother me a lot.
After practicing qigong at Tai Ji Men for years, I have discovered that the breathing technique I have learned allows me to calm my heart much more easily. Practicing the qigong movements enables my body to become relaxed, and my heart also becomes relaxed. Gradually I no longer get nervous so easily.
Tai Ji Men have held many events and activities, large and small, and I would encourage myself to volunteer to join the events and share my experiences. In the process, when I began to get nervous and incoherent, I would take a deep breath and adjust my heart to calm it down. After practicing this time and time again, I gradually became natural when sharing my experiences in front of the audience. In addition, I was able to perform for the National Day celebration to promote traditional Chinese culture in front of thousands of domestic and oversea spectators.
Now I have started to work, and need to solve various problems for my customers. One day, a colleague who was about to retire came to chat with me. He told me, "You are young, but your EQ is very high. Even though you are in your early twenties, you show the maturity and wisdom of a sixty-year-old person in handling and solving problems." On hearing this, my other colleagues laughed out loud and nodded their heads in agreement. One of the coworkers immediately said, "Because she is practicing qigong!" I know I left a deep impression on that colleague who was going to retire. I would like to proudly say here, "Practicing qigong at Tai Ji Men, I have learned to keep a calm and relaxed heart and become a changed person!"
