The Dragon in the Modern Times

Dragon has long been associated with Chinese people for thousands of years. In ancient times, the dragon robe was reserved only for the emperor. Chinese people are proud of being the descendents of the Dragon. Dragon, the mythical sacred creature that no one has ever seen, has long been a distant idea only in fairy tales. But the dragon came to the mundane world and allowed me to feel and experience the spirit of the dragon in the month of October.

I was fortunate enough to perform the Tai Ji Men Celestial Dragon in the 2005 Double Ten National Celebration. The Dragon performance was part of the 11-minute long performance that Tai Ji Men did for the national holiday. Tai Ji Men performance spread peace, love, and happiness to celebrate the birthday of our nation. The Dragon, together with other 4 auspicious creatures, was performed to deliver the message.

Four Tai Ji Men Celestial Dragons were performed. The Fire Dragon and Yellow Dragon are the longest. The Fire and Yellow Dragon each is 60 meters long and needs 25 people to perform. The head of the Dragon weighs 30 kilograms.
