Light Up Your Heart

As always, 2013 Tai Ji Men Chinese New Year Gathering presented all kinds of blissful arrangements and settings, including a 250-centimeter tall New Year’s card, traditional celestial lanterns, and delicate molded bamboo. Every setting had its meaning and countless blessing for all distinguished guests.

Many people would visit temples to worship, to pray for wellbeing, and to appreciate God’s blessing during the Chinese New Year. Some would light up a "Lamp for Bright Future" in the temples. Tai Ji Men Chinese New Year Gathering particularly held a ceremony of "Light up Your Heart, Look on the Bright Side" to gather positive energy all around the world, to welcome a blissful New Year, and to wish world peace and good luck year round. Leaders of all fields from home and abroad were invited to hold the Tai Ji Men Lanterns, which symbolized lighting up the world with positive thinking. This ceremony encouraged everyone to give effect and make the world better.

The ceremony took only a split second, but it could make a great impact if the participants live their lives with positive energy. As a matter of the fact, everyone can light up the lantern in his heart.

I have been learning in Tai JI Men Qigong Academy for years. My Shifu, Dr. Hong, Tao-Tze has helped me light up my heart by reminding me to have positive thinking, to hear my inner voice, to constantly do self-reflection and adjustment, and to love myself and others.

I lacked self-confidence in the past. When I participated in a speech contest in school, I was totally speechless on the stage. However, Shifu encouraged me to know about myself, to see the best of me and to learn by doing. During these years in Tai Ji Men, I had a lot of opportunities to share with others on the stage and even to host events. Gradually, I no longer let the fear take over my heart. I understand that I do not need to compete with anyone. All I have to do is to have fun and be myself because everyone has his value in the society.

"Positive thinking" and "looking on the bright side" seem very simple, but indeed it takes time to learn. Bad things happen in life, but they may be a blessing in disguise. One day, my son rode a scooter and accidentally ran into a sedan. The driver asked for less repair charge because he requested used parts. He was thoughtful since he knew that my son was a student. Although this accident cost some money, we still appreciated that both of them were safe.

If you want to have a bright future, relying on yourself is better than upon others. Try to brighten up your heart and a wonderful future will be surly ahead.
